Couples Counselor - REgistered/Provisional Psychologist or registered Clinical Social Worker

Firefly Counselling and Consulting is looking for a Provisional Psychologist or Registered Psychologist with a strong interest in couples counselling. For couples counselling work, clinicians with experience and/or training in Emotionally Focused Therapy (EFT) will be given preference. General therapy clients may include individuals dealing with depression, anxiety, stress, trauma, addictions, communication issues, workplace challenges, eating disorders, imposter syndrome, phobias, performance anxiety, self-esteem and self-identity challenges.  We are also looking for a Provisional Psychologist or Registered Psychologist who is interested in assisting clients dealing with chronic pain.

While we would consider an applicant looking for part-time work, our preference is to find a clinician who would like to build to a full-time practice.

To assist our clients, Firefly Counselling is seeking a Psychologist who has training in (or willingness to actively seek training and supervision in) one or more of these therapeutic approaches:

  • Emotionally Focused Therapy (EFT) (as per Sue Johnson’s work)

  • Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT)

  • Eye Movement Desensitization Reprocessing (EMDR)

  • Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT)

  • Hypnotherapy

  • Motivational Interviewing

Firefly Counselling provides its clinicians with new, fully furnished, fully equipped offices.  All the clinician offices offer large windows overlooking trees.  Client and clinician comfort during therapy sessions are a key focus.  To this goal, the entire office is custom built for therapy work.  Clinicians are provided with height adjustable desks, in room temperature/air flow control, walls and the HVAC system are built to manage sound transmission, and lighting is fully adjustable.

You will be surrounded by a team of experienced, positive therapists who are available for consults, questions or just to chat.  All the therapists at Firefly are either in the process of, or have completed, certification in one or more therapeutic approaches.  This focus on clinician continuing education and skill improvement provides clients a high-quality service.  It allows Firefly clinicians opportunity to consult and learn from experts within their own clinical setting.

While clients may be available during regular working hours, many clients prefer evening and weekend bookings.  To meet client needs, counselling work will involve a mix of daytime and evening or weekend hours.
